Thor always gets the least amount of anticipation from me mostly because I am not as invested nor interested in the character, but I suppose I’m not alone on that front. Despite my general “meh” attitude towards the cantankerous Norse god, I enjoyed his first solo outing and there’s no reason not to give this sequel a chance. In fact, after having seen the trailer for it, it appears that it’s taken some notes on how to improve upon the first film. Continue Reading
Ryan Gosling reunites with the director of Drive, Nicolas Winding Refn, to deliver a highly stylized revenge flick with presumably another interesting soundtrack. The bright orange and pink neon colors of this new flick is very reminiscent of their previous efforts together, which I assume will now be a “thing” for them, much like the creepy yet endearing style of Tim Burton is his “thing.” Continue Reading
I never thought I’d see Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds in a supernatural buddy cop movie together. I know that is an oddly specific thing to NOT expect, but that’s just…how this cookie crumbled. Anyway, a lot of people are calling this a Men In Black rip-off, but the whole secret-service-that-exists-outside-the-general-public’s-knowledge thing can’t be credited to MIB…but I’ll concede the point that the exaggerated cartoonish CGI looks familiar. A new trailer was released a day ago, but I just got around to watching it…and it is magnificent. This new trailer gives us a glimpse into its story structure a bit more than the previous ones and we get a few more frames of action to see how this new Superman stacks up. Needless to say, he moves and tears through things like the last son of Krypton should. Continue Reading
I’ve been pining for a movie like this for as long as I can remember. It felt like giant robots and monsters flicks were a thing of the past, until recently when this project had come to fruition (not to mention a Godzilla reboot in the works at this very moment). Spearheaded by Guillermo Del Toro, the creative team dared to bring a very 90’s anime-esque story to the silver screen, which sounds absolutely nuts to me and the fact that there’s a market here for a film like this to thrive is a wish come true. Michael Shannon doesn’t have the greatest hair cut in this picture, but boy does he fill out that metal armor! Recently, there’s been a few more revealing pictures for Man of Steel, but it’s been far too long since we got any new footage from the film.
And now, in the long standing tradition of DC viral marketing campaign, they released a static clip of Zod threatening the humans to present them with Kal-El, a former native of Krypton and our featured super hero. Continue Reading
This is one of the movie I am looking forward to the most this summer. With Fast Five, they finally ditched the car porn aspect of the franchise that I never cared about in favor of being the dumbest blockbuster film full of beautifully crafted spectacles that are so amazingly stupid that it warrants multiple viewings for drinking game purposes. Justin Lin realized his past mistakes of trying to add any sort of character depth and instead went with the approach of delivering the most coherent two hours of vehicular mayhem and meat heads wrestling each other on top of moving trains.
