Ryan Gosling reunites with the director of Drive, Nicolas Winding Refn, to deliver a highly stylized revenge flick with presumably another interesting soundtrack. The bright orange and pink neon colors of this new flick is very reminiscent of their previous efforts together, which I assume will now be a “thing” for them, much like the creepy yet endearing style of Tim Burton is his “thing.”
Anyway, the hottest star to never don a super hero costume (I’m talking about Ryan Gosling if you haven’t caught on already!) plays a drug smuggler in Bangkok, whose mother compels him to find and kill the murderer of his brother. It sounds so simple on paper, but it never really is, is it? From the looks of it, he’ll be killing half of Bangkok to finally reach the end boss of this movie, a kick boxing Chinese man who appears to be very proficient with multiple weapons. Fair enough.
Here’s the trailer.
From what I can tell, the picture looks gorgeous and promises to be ultra violent (if that’s what you’re into). It premiers July 19 in the U.S.
