Byung-hun Lee is a powerhouse actor in South Korea, but he’s been getting a lot of well-deserved international recognition as well. His work in the previous G.I. Joe film is easily glossed over because the movie was a mess and he barely played a part in it. It appears though that more focus is being put on his character’s rivalry with his fellow movie ninja, Snake Eyes, thus making their roles more prevalent than before. In fact, I would go as far as to say most of us who are willing to watch this sequel are probably looking forward to their ninja duels more so than either Bruce Willis or Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. I mean, yes, meatheads butting heads with other meatheads with enough hot lead to make Kim Jung Eun jealous would’ve been enough incentive for some of us, but we all know where the real title fight lies.
Here’s the character featurette about Byung-hun Lee and his character, Storm Shadow.
I can’t believe the dude is over forty and still moving like that. He easily embodies the character’s physicality and his heart, but what’s really impressive to me is how much his English has improved.
But that’s enough of me gushing over this guy. G.I. Joe: Retaliation comes out on March 28th.
