The road to getting this movie out was tumultuous. First, nobody wanted a sequel after the mess that was G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, even though the last five minutes of that movie did a pretty good job of setting up the next installment. Then once this sequel got made and was ready to roll, they postponed its premiere for another year to make a post-converted 3-D version of the film. Sadly, it looked like it was well on its way to joining its predecessor as another stinker, but unlike the first movie, I was hopeful that it’ll still make a great spectacle piece. From all the trailers they released, it appeared as if they opted for bigger action and more Snake Eyes, which I felt confident about, but what excited me more is this little teaser:
A viral marketing video that turns on its heel like that seems way too smart for this movie. I’m starting to believe that maybe this sequel will do more than deliver on the action…though I’m not holding my breath or anything. But you can’t shoot a guy down for hoping…unless you’re Cobra.
