If you saw “Wreck-it-Ralph” in theaters, then you’ll remember a certain black-and-white animated short that preceded the movie. It used the origami motif to draw the two characters in the short together and managed to tug at my pessimistic heart string at the same time. Director John Kahrs did a fantastic job of blending the 2-D hand drawn style animation with 3-D technology and the result is a well-deserved Oscar nomination. I’m happy that it got some recognition because the crew that worked on this short definitely earned it. If you haven’t seen it yet, no problem. Disney released the short on Youtube for our viewing pleasure.
Take some time to watch it. It makes you feel that there’s still a place for retro style animation in the world, albeit it’s a fusion of sort.
