Late night shows often pull some cheap, crummy stunts for ratings. But on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” it is never cheap, and almost never crummy (let’s keep in mind that even the likes of Kimmel and Conan can have dud skits). Jimmy (we’re friends) had a long running joke (it’s almost a tradition now) of bumping Matt Damon right before the show ends. Sure, Matt (we’re also friends) came on here and there for some hilarious bits and appearances, but last night, he kidnapped Jimmy and hosted the show himself. He even brought his long list of celebrity friends along for the ride (Ben Affleck, Andy Garcia, Amy Adams, Nicole Kidman, Robin Williams, etc.) and it was amazing. Or at least it looked amazing, because I didn’t catch the show myself. But I did take a look at some highlights from the show:
The whole thing plays out like a ninety minute roast of Jimmy Kimmel. I have a lot of respect for a man who can make a hilarious episode at the expense of himself. I hope they continue to pull more stunts like these, even if it’s just for the ratings.
