Remember back in November when J.J. Abrams (Lost, Star Trek, Super 8) said he was not directing the next Star Wars movie? Well, he lied. I guess the studio wanted to throw off our scent for a bit, but decided to come out and tell us to spark more interest in the project, even though it is only like the most popular science fiction franchise in the world. Or perhaps they just wanted to shut people up from harping on them so much for trying to revive Star Wars by announcing that they have a more-than-capable director in their pocket. Who knows? But thanks to that, we now have a single director on two of the biggest sci-fi movie franchises of all time; cue any crappy cross-over ideas you have.
But hey, now we finally know that Star Wars is in safe hands. Maybe I’m being just as presumptuous as any fanboys out there, but he did prove that he could direct a Star Trek movie sexy enough to draw in the casual crowd. Making a good Star Wars flick is a walk in the park compared to that feat. They also have the same dude who wrote Little Miss Sunshine writing the script, so if anything, it’ll turn out to be very interesting.
Anyway, J.J. Abrams has been outed as a liar. Time to set his pants on fire.
Or give him the key to Star Gate next.
