The details are all here. Moviepilot.
Basically, the movie rights for the character returned to Marvel in 2011 and David S. Goyer (the dude who wrote Blade and The Dark Knight Rises) thinks that Marvel will be itching to make a reboot. Now how Blade would fit into the current interconnecting universe is anybody’s guess, but the author of the article that I linked had an interesting idea. Basically he talked about creating a different label, a “Marvel Underground” if you will, where street level heroes from Marvel, like Blade, Iron Fist, and Daredevil, can team up to take down the bad guys. But if they’re able to throw in characters like the Black Widow and Hawkeye into The Avengers film, I’m sure it wouldn’t be too difficult to add Blade into the mix. It’s just the matter of tweaking his motivation to fight something other than vampires that could pose a challenge.
As for who gets to play Blade for Disney, it seems a lot of fans want Wesley Snipes back for the role and the author is clamoring for Idris Alba. Personally, I want to see Ice Cube fight vampires while donning a fat afro, but that may not be the type of film Disney may be envisioning, nor something anybody else would want to watch.
But I digress, this is just a rumor so far. Yeah, there’s smoke where there’s fire, but fire’s dangerous and I intend to stay back and tell you whether it’s spreading or not.
